NASA’s Rocket Project
The object is to build a rocket that will cost no more than $30 million dollars to make. Below is the price list for the materials you may need to use. Keep in mind the bold items are required for every rocket. Please plan your materials accordingly so that you are not spending more than the $30 million given to you. If you do spend more than $30 million, you have gone over budget, and Congress will no longer fund any of your future projects. You will also be fined one point for each million dollars you go over budget.
Costs of Materials You Can Use: Materials in Bold Print are required to use
! 1 piece of 8˝” x 11” piece of paper = $11 million
! 30 cm section of either scotch, duct or masking tape = $2.5 million per section
! Decals / decoration on your rocket = $1.5 million
! 1/2 piece of paper for a nose cone = $4 million
! The use of a glue gun, 1 time fee = $6 million
! 1 index card = $4 million
! Elmers glue = $3 million
! Extra – Any sealant or other adhesive/ paint used = $3 million

Grading: Your grade on the Rocket will be based upon the distance it travels. A total of 20 points are possible.
! Less than 20 meters – 14 points
! 21 to 30 meters – 15 points 51 – 60 meters – 18 points
! 31 – 40 meters – 16 points 61 – 70 meters – 19 points
! 41 – 50 meters – 17 points 71 meters of more – 20 points
